2000AD Prog 447: Adventure Gaming Gets Thrill-Powered! You are Sláine in Tomb of Terror!

2000AD salmon leaps on to the 1980s fantasy gaming craze with Sláine, technology fails on Earth, but only when relevant to the plot, ugly lives in Mega-City One, home life with Wulf and goodbye to Azure.

2000AD Prog 446: Messerschmitts in the Mega-City! “Himmel! This isn’t Stalingrad!”

Young Alpha accepts the mission to save the Earth, even if it means saving everybody's lives, Bad Jack is determined to go to Earth, even if they have to kill to get there. The second world war ends - in the twenty second century! What to do with a robot butler? At the Souther / Nort peace pact, aliens attack!

2000D Prog 426: Midnight Express – Southbound Surfer! “Intruder on track! Impact unavoidable!”

Johnny and Wulf in semi-retirement on a forested colony planet, a pilot stranded on a forested planet (apparently), Sláine... the gladiator, Marlon goes on the run (flutter? Because he's flying), Rogue gains a lead though also gains a few enemies in the next zone (ambush alert?) and the remaining Dark Judges also 'port in to an ambush.

2000AD Prog 402: Free inside! 6 ‘Dune’ stickers! (not available to overseas readers) “Joe Dredd, meet… Joe Dredd!”

Brendan McCarthy cover featuring blind Dredd facing off against future zombie Dredd! The Mutant doesn't look right though (he seems to have gained eyes). No letters this week in the Nerve Centre, instead a feature on Free "Dune" stickers and news that the Mega-plan will be revealed next prog (first touted a year earlier). Rogue … Continue reading 2000AD Prog 402: Free inside! 6 ‘Dune’ stickers! (not available to overseas readers) “Joe Dredd, meet… Joe Dredd!”

2000AD Prog 359: A demonic attack – at the heart of justice! The Haunting of Sector House 9 AAAAAAAAAAAAAA

One of my early favourite Dredd tales as Brett Ewins does a try-out for Anderson (probably not, but it couldn't have harmed his prospects) in this cover. Tharg's Nerve Centre has a stamp competition in the corner with unwittingly difficult questions (things like "Has non-royalty appeared on British stamps?" or "Has the Queen Mother appeared … Continue reading 2000AD Prog 359: A demonic attack – at the heart of justice! The Haunting of Sector House 9 AAAAAAAAAAAAAA

2000AD Prog 328: “I am the LAAAAH!” RIP!

A second week on the cover for Steve Dillon, and the third for this Dredd story - also the third to feature a werewolf, though this one is Dredd himself! Tharg's Nerve Centre and Tharg announces the first stage of Project Thrill-Power Unlimited with the advent of Sláine in two week's time. An earthlet writes … Continue reading 2000AD Prog 328: “I am the LAAAAH!” RIP!

2000AD Prog 308:This is SKIZZ “Fatality factor 79%… Goodbye, Interpreter Zhcchz!”

Picture the scene. It's a hot day in the early eighties, very possibly near the beginning of the school summer holidays. A hot day in the hottest summer of the 20th century. We were sitting on the front step of our house which faced on to an old disused canal. My family got chatting with … Continue reading 2000AD Prog 308:This is SKIZZ “Fatality factor 79%… Goodbye, Interpreter Zhcchz!”

2000AD Prog 284: “Howdy! This here’s a hijack!”

Carlos is back on the cover, along with Mean Machine Angel for the first time in, er, three weeks. Apparently there were stickers given away free with this prog, so Tharg's Nerve Centre tells me. Luckily this hasn't resulted in sticky tape damage on the cover. Sam Slade, Robo-Hunter: Football Crazy Part 2 by Alan … Continue reading 2000AD Prog 284: “Howdy! This here’s a hijack!”

2000AD Prog 282: A stab in the dark “…and the Great Garpo shall die!”

This Belardinelli cover skips last prog's cliffhanger (where Ace is due to get barbecued) and trots on to the next threat against the space trucker's life. Future comic writer Warren Ellis makes a second appearance in Tharg's Nerve Centre, this time pouring on the praise for the Apocalypse War. Ace Trucking Co. The Kloistar Run … Continue reading 2000AD Prog 282: A stab in the dark “…and the Great Garpo shall die!”

2000AD Prog 247: Read by Aliens Across the Galaxy! “It’s buzzin’ beakboys, G-B-H! Pummel gurney or we’re skavy gravy!” Translation: The Ace Trucking Co. are in big trouble this prog!

With a cover line like that you know it's going to be Belardinelli on art duties, as G-B-H takes centre-stage on the cover. The most notable thing about the Nerve Centre is how so many things are contributed that there's a Nerve Centre Extra at the back of the prog. Having said that, none of … Continue reading 2000AD Prog 247: Read by Aliens Across the Galaxy! “It’s buzzin’ beakboys, G-B-H!
